Mrs. Ringham's Class Rules
As a class, we generate the rules based on what the students feel are important to help them be successful. I feel that it is important for them to have ownership over their classroom. After the rules are generated, I ask them to sign the bottom as one would any contract. I have listed the rules that our class came up with for this school year.
1. Use walking feet at all times.
2. Be respectful in the hallway.
3. One voice at a time.
4. Work hard and do your best.
5. Be respectful to others.
Consequences for breaking a rule:
1. Warning
2. I will ask student to take a break
3. They will fill out a think sheet that will be sent home.
I use the 101 Positive Discipline tools that were created by Dr. Katherine Kersey. This theory is based on logical consequences and focusing on what you want the children to do instead of what you don’t want them to do. I give group and individual praise throughout the day. I ignore inappropriate behavior as long as it will not hinder anyone’s’ safety.
