Peek of the Week for April  3-7

 Bible Verse –Matthew 28:6 "He  is not here; he is risen; just as he said."

Spelling:  
phrase,  graph, telephone, alphabet, elephant, chorus, echo, echoes, rough, tough, bought,  brought, fought, thought, taught, caught, daughter, didn't, doesn't, don't

Vocab: 
fleet: a group of ships or planes
coast:  the land next to the sea
chimes: a set of bells

Reading: Our story this week is: “Anthony Reynoso: Born to Rope”


Genre: Nonfiction: Personal Narrative – A personal narrative is a true story about something important to the narrator.

 Vocabulary Words: 

1.    dappled – to be marked with spots or patches of light and dark

2.   exhibition – a show for the public

3.   landscape business – a company that makes money by designing,  shaping  and planting gardens for customers

4.   ranch – a large farm for raising horses, beef cattle, or sheep.

5.   thousands – whole numbers, written 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 and so on that are equal to 10 times 100, 200, 300, and so on.

Math: We will continue with Ch 11.

Social Science: We will finish our unit on plants. A vocab test will be given on Tuesday, April 11th. A study guide will come home this week.

Peek of the Week for March 27-31

No tests or homework this week.

We will begin testing each morning at 8:45 am. Please make every effort to be on time. 
   *Students must wear their uniform.
   *Please send in a healthy snack every day.
   *Eat a good breakfast.
   *Get a good nights sleep.
   *We will be testing Monday-Friday.

Peek of the Week for March 20-24


Bible Verse: Psalm 68:3 “…may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God…” 
**Beginning this week and the remainder of the year, they will need to write their Bible verse rather than recite it. This is to prepare them for 3rd grade. They will need to be able to write it at school without  looking at anything. This week ONLY they will be allowed to either write it in print or cursive. Next Bible verse, they will need to write it in cursive.. 


Spelling:  they'll, they've, they're, we're, you're, can't, won't, he'll, should've, haven't
vocab: 
suffer: to feel pain
strength: power
wealthy: rich
**We will only be doing  10 spelling words and 3 vocab words this week. The test will be on Thursday. 



Reading: Our story this week: “Max Found Two Sticks”

Genre: Realistic Fiction – Realistic fiction tells about events that could happen in real life. 

Vocabulary Words:

1.    appeared – to come into view

2.  conductor – someone who is in charge of a train

3.  created – to make or design something

4.  imitated – to copy something or someone

5.  rhythm – a regular beat in music, poetry, or dance

6.   startled – to surprise someone and make the person jump
​**This test will be on Friday morning before chapel. 

Math: We will continue with Ch 11 as well as reviewing skills for standardized testing.  Timed test: we will be doing differences of 9 in 4 minutes.

**We will begin to do all of our work in cursive to prepare the students for 3rd grade where all work is done in cursive. This will include homework, classwork, tests, etc.

*Friday, March 24: We will be taking the practice Stanford Achievement Test at 10:15 am.

*Friday: report cards come home

*March  27-31: Stanford Achievement testing

Peek of the Week for March 6-9

Since we have a short week, we will not be testing this week.

Reading: we will be finishing up our books that we have been reading in our reading groups.

Math: We will  be continuing with our math book as well as reviewing skills for our upcoming testing.

Science: We will continue with our chapter on plants.

**During this time, we will be practicing our test taking skills and reviewing certain skills for the upcoming Stanford Achievement Test.

**Our field trip will be on Thursday. We will leave school around 8:50 and return around 12:30. Please have your student wear his/her uniform.  If your child will be returning to school, please pack them a sack lunch and drink. If you are meeting us at the play, please arrive between 9:00-9:15. The play will begin at 9:30. 

**Friday is a student holiday and teacher work day. 

**Spring Break is March 10-March 19. Be safe and have a wonderful, restful break!

**If you have not re-enrolled, the  discount on the re-enrollment fee has been continued until March 7th. If you have any questions,  please contact Debbie Fairbanks at dfairbanks@savcps.com. We are happy to help as well!!
