Peek of the Week for Feb. 13-17
Spelling: Our focus in spelling this week will be on the suffixes: -y, -er, -est, -ly, -en, -es
Our spelling words are: sleepy, frosty, faster, helper, winner, loudest, biggest, softly, slowly, kindly, taken, eaten, frozen, dishes, washes, lunches, classes, houses, every, very
Spelling vocabulary and definitions:
1. courtesy: kindness; politeness
2. repent: to turn from
3. difficult: hard to do
Reading: Our story this week: “The Pine Park Mystery” Genre: Play – A play is a story that can be acted out.
Vocabulary words:
1. caused – made something happen
2. clasp – a small hook that holds parts together
3. confused – to be uncertain or unclear about something
4. cornered – to get a person or an animal into a situation or position that is a trap
5. objects – things that you can see and touch but are not alive
6. typical – normal or usual for a kind of thing
Math: We will continue with Ch.8 telling time and graphs.

Social Science: Georgia Day
We will be sending home a study guide for an oceans and continents test on Thursday, Feb. 23rd.
Requests and Reminders;
*Tuesday, Feb. 14th; Happy Valentine's Day We will have a party for students only in our classroom. Please send in a Valentine card for each student in the class by Tuesday, the 14th.
*Friday, Feb. 17th: Georgia Day Your child may wear a colonial costume or Native American costume. If they choose not to wear one of these, please dress them in a uniform. They must bring a sack lunch and drink as the cafeteria will be closed.
*Monday, Feb. 20th; President's Day holiday No school!
*Wednesday, Feb. 22nd: Trolley field trip
Students will wear their blue field trip shirt and jeans. We will be eating in the classroom so please send a sack lunch and drink if you will not be signing them out.
